Hurricane Katrina over the Gulf Coast

By God's Grace, the facilities of Trinity Bible Church at River Oaks were spared from major damage. We were, however, located right in the middle of a plan only God foresaw before that day.

Within a few days following the storm, yet unknown brothers and sisters in Christ were making efforts to contact us to offer aid. All communication methods were destroyed, except for prayer. With prayer, persistence, and patience, connections eventually started being made.

Our church facilities soon became "home" for many precious relief workers who streamed to the area to shower God's love on anyone and everyone they came in contact with.

In the year and a half that followed the storm, we saw Christian groups from Ohio, Illinois, Arizona, Oregon, Texas, Montana, New Jersey, Nebraska, and Virginia pour their servants' hearts into the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Many returned for multiple tours of duty--often taking personal vacation time from work to be here. We also received relief donations from around the country.

The people in our church were ministered to, and the people in our community experienced God's love in practical ways never before imagined. More than just homes were rebuilt here; lives were touched for God's Kingdom and His Glory.

There are no words that can aptly describe the gratitude due these volunteers. God knows each of them, and He knows of their sacrifice and obedience to His call.
