Beginnings (before ministry)
Gerry Rubink was born and
raised on a dairy farm in rural central Minnesota. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy right out of high
school. While in the Navy, Gerry served
on several ships in Viet Nam
and completed tours of recruiting duty in North Dakota
and Minnesota. Having been promoted to Navy Chief Petty
Officer, Gerry accepted a commission as a Limited Duty Officer (Mustang). As such, he served a tour of duty with a
Navy Seabee Battalion and another tour of recruiting duty before being assigned
to work at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, DC. In 1987, Gerry served on the Battleship Iowa
during the Persian Gulf War before returning to Navy Headquarters in Washington, DC,
where he was promoted to his present rank of “Navy Commander.” Gerry retired
from the Navy in 1996 after completing his final tour of duty as Executive
Officer of Navy Personnel Support Activity in Norfolk, Virginia.

Calling & Preparation
Both Gerry and Jan became “Born Again Christians”
late in Gerry’s thirty-year career in the U. S. Navy. Gerry’s call to full-time ministry came
shortly thereafter. Immediately after
Navy retirement, Gerry
and Jan moved to Columbia, South
Carolina where he would spend the next six years studying at Columbia International University.
He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pastoral Ministries and Bible from Columbia Bible College
in 2001 and a Master of Arts Degree in General Theological Studies from
Columbia Biblical Seminary in 2002.
Ministry
Gerry accepted the call to be the pastor of Trinity Bible Church
at River Oaks in January of 2004. With
God’s help, Gerry’s goals
as a pastor are to preach and teach the Word of God to both edify the saints
and introduce the Gospel Message of the Lord Jesus Christ to those who are not
saved. His spiritual gifts and training have equipped him to provide
Biblical leadership to the church in areas of Shepherding, Administration,
Evangelism, Prayer, and Discipleship.
