What's normal?  Things are rapidly getting back to new-normal.  That's what we have down here - a new normal.  Several major thoroughfares are basically gone, and will remain gone, in all or part for 60 days at least, and possibly as long as two years.  New normal.  It affects things as simple as getting from point A to point B.

Part of the new normal is getting back to work.  Many local businesses are already open, and more open everyday.  People are getting back to their livings, if their place of employment survived.  If it didn't, there are a LOT of Help Wanted and Now Hiring signs posted, as some people have decided to move away permanently, leaving plenty of openings to fill.

We no longer wait for up to 4 hours for gas for our generators... power is almost completely restored to those whose homes can receive it, and more than two gas stations are open.  We thank God for dry weather since the storm and all the volunteer crews who have come to restore our electric and telephone infrastructures - their tenacity and generosity have restored in three weeks what was first expected to take 4 weeks to 3 months.

We also thank all the law enforcement teams and groups who have come to help man the intersections and keep watch over homes without windows or doors. (I've never been to Indiana, but I am comforted by all the Indiana State Police cars I see on patrol every day.).  Florida, hard hit last year, also has an outstanding representation here in the Biloxi-Gulfport area.  I don't mean to slight any volunteers - they have literally come from all over the states, and several other countries as well - and we as Christians and local citizens are gratified to receive the much needed assistance.

Keesler AFB is starting to crank back up, again, faster than first expectations.  The Gulfport NCBC (SeaBee base) is also back in business, although business is not normal at either base.

We look forward to starting to make progress in the rebuilding and continuing the recovery process.  We are thankful and grateful for all the prayers and assistance.
